Blackwater Distillery is a micro-distillery based in West Waterford on the banks of the Blackwater River where it draws its name and inspiration from.
Today the Blackwater is famous the world over as a salmon river, but for hundreds of years, its deep dark waters made it a perfect artery of commerce.
As the distillers themselves like to say, "We like to keep it real, which is why early in the morning we switch on the lights, open the post and fire up the still".
Blackwater Distillery continues to run from a 1950s converted hardware store in Ballyduff, where they make award-winning gin and small-batch Irish whisky.
